Flora Lucini, Maafa Hardcore
Maafa Hardcore is the brain child of bassist, songwriter, and vocalist, Flora Lucini. Described as afro-progressive hardcore, a genre created by Lucini herself, Maafa brings a new style to the scene by combining African rhythm and percussions and the traditional punk/hardcore sound.
On this episode of Grrrl Talk, we were fortunate to sit down with Lucini to discuss her musical background, Sista Grrrl Riot, Maafa and the Black Renaissance movement happening within NYHC, performative activism surrounding BLM, and offer advice on real ways people can amplify the POC community.
